Speaker: Jody Kollapen, Chair of the South African Human Rights Commission
TOPIC: Human Rights, Ethics, and Research
The enterprise of research is neither neutral nor problem-free. In the social sciences it is dependent on the "voluntary" participation of persons who may or may not understand their co-option, authorisation, consent, and implication in the production of knowledge. This research seminar interrogates the notion of research ethics, and engages with the complexities of research, from a Human Rights perspective.
Venue: Margaret Martin Lecture Theatre, Edgewood Campus, UKZN (Pinetown, Durban)
